In an effort to reduce gender discrimination, the government plans to provide cash and non cash incentives to parents in backward district to encourage them to register the birth of their daughter, send them to school regularly and not rush them into marriage as soon as they turn 18.
The women and child development ministry has submitted a proposal for a pilot scheme to the planning commission. According to the scheme, community vigilance groups to be appointed in each village will ensure adherence to these guidelines.

लिंग अनुपात को सही करने के उदेश्य से सरकार ने नगद और दूसरी सुविधायों के तहत पिछडे वर्ग को अपनी पुत्रियों के जन्म का नामांकन करवाने, उन्हें नियमित स्कूल भेजने और बाल विवाह को रोकने के लिए प्रोत्साहन दिया। महिला और बाल विकास मन्त्रालय ने योजना आयोग को इस स्कीम का एक प्रस्ताव प्रस्तुत किया ,जिसके तहत समुदायिक निगरानी कमेटी प्रत्येक गाँव में इन दिशा निर्देशों का पालन करवाने का कार्य करेगी ।
